Airworthiness Directives (AD) are issued when the Airworthiness Authorities (e.g. FAA, DGCA etc) finds that an unsafe condition exists in a product (aircraft, aircraft engine, propeller, APU, or appliance).
While Service bulletins are issued by the manufacturer when a condition exists that the manufacturer feels is a safety related item or a product improvement for better reliability.
Timely Compliance of AD/SB is always an major task which Airlines face globally, mainly because the list of AD/SB’s issued always keeps on increasing. Many times old AD/SB’s are superseded by new ones and sometime AD/SB are also taken as part of MPD (Maintenance program) by Airlines to ensure safe and reliable operations. These conditions further complicates the tracking of the AD/SB in day to day operations. Non-compliance can lead to grounding of aircraft and loss of revenue for airlines.
Aviation software tools play an important role in tracking and managing AD / SB to comply with airworthiness requirements. FlyPal is easily configurable to induct AD / SB on multiple parameters ( Flight Hours, Flight Cycles , Calendar days etc ) from the effective date.
FlyPal’s unique link maintenance option can be configured to linkup SB , AD and MPD to give a better control to the Engineering & Planning Department to plan their downtime for aircraft maintenance.
