Is cloud hosting preferred over on-premise hosting in aviation industry?

In the 21st century, technology is rapidly evolving, but Airlines are constantly struggling with data related to airworthiness, manpower utilisation and operational cost . This is mainly due to traditional ways of managing information. Today Airlines require 24/7 access to data from various departments ( Maintenance hangar, airport , stores etc) in order to make timely decision for proper aircraft maintenance planning and optimise airline crew utilization to achieve competitive advantage over their peers.

Aviation Software Implementation made easy with FlyPal

Airline operation depends very much on it’s current & historical technical records (data). To ensure regulatory compliance as well as to maintain the Continuous Airworthiness Status of the aircraft , all records have to be kept up to date and always accessible for any inspection or reference. With rise in flying, the volume of technical data is increasing and changing rapidly. Hence maintaining the data accurately is growing problem for all aviation organizations. This has made the airlines / aircraft operators to shift from the traditional spreadsheets approach to a specialized software tool for CAMO, Maintenance & Engineering, Inventory Management like FlyPal®. All new software implementation in any aircraft maintenance related organization begin with a mammoth task of transferring the induction data (last done / next due) of each aircraft . In case of an MRO all components historical records also need to be migrated. Most Airlines, MRO and Aviation organizations have limited human resources to do these tasks and can take several days to go live. FlyPal® uses spread-sheet templates to push (import) data for Aircraft /component maintenance records to ensure easier and error free migration. BytzSoft’s special data migration teams help clients (MRO ‘s, M&E, CAMO and Airlines ) in securing the appropriate data quality, which is then transformed and loaded onto new system.

Investing In Augmented Reality for Aviation Companies

Augmented reality (AR) has been steadily gaining traction within the MRO industry for everything from technician training and remote collaboration to previewing aircraft configurations and liveries. If financial investments are any indication, interest in the technology only continues to grow. RealWear recently raised $17 million in funding for its HMT-1 AR wearable device, and AR software provider Upskill just picked up $17.2 million in capital support from investors including Accenture, GE Ventures and Boeing HorizonX. GE Aviation, which ran a six-month pilot program last year using Google Glass and Upskill’s Skylight software, found that 60% of mechanics involved in the pilot preferred accessing work procedures via AR compared to the traditional method.

Aircraft Ground De/Anti-Icing

Aircraft Ground De/Anti Icing procedures serve three purposes: removal of any frozen or semi frozen moisture from critical external surfaces of an aircraft on the ground prior to flight; and/or, protection of those surfaces from the effects of such contaminant for the period between treatment and becoming airborne; and/or, removal of any frozen or semi frozen moisture from engine intakes and fan blades and protection of external surfaces from subsequent contamination prior to takeoff. It should be noted that fan blade ice which may be accumulated after the pre-start visual inspection, including whilst the engines are running at low thrust prior to take off, is removed by following prescribed engine handling procedures.
